The Arts

Arts education places value on divergence, uniqueness and individuality. It assists students to value and develop confidence in their own creative abilities and to develop a greater understanding of their environment, community and culture. The Arts learning area focuses on the four outcomes of Arts Ideas, Arts Skills and Processes, Arts Responses, and Arts in Society.
The two contexts offered at Newman Senior High School are:

• Creative Arts
• Performing Arts

Through Creative Arts, students have opportunities to express their imagination and develop personal imagery, skills and engage in the making and presentation of artworks.

Performing Arts embodies our ideas, thoughts, emotions and values and provides a unique opportunity for students to develop physically, creatively, aesthetically, emotionally and intellectually.  Students will have the opportunity to explore Performing Ars through Dance and Drama.

Arts students will have the opportunity to enter their work in the annual Newman Senior High School Art and Design Exhibition in Term 3. They will also be offered opportunities to engage with artists-in residence programs and workshops presented by various visiting artists.
